Philips Wireless EMTA Cable Gateway receives InfoVision Award at the Broadband World Forum

Paris, France, Oct 11, 2007 - Philips today announced its CKC7720N Wireless EMTA Cable Gateway was honored with the International Engineering Consortium’s InfoVision award for Wireless Broadband. The CKC7720N incorporates the latest WiFi and security technologies that assist cable operators to deliver cutting edge wireless services to their subscribers. The award gives tribute to technologies, applications, products and advanced services judged as being most unique and beneficial to the information and communication (ICT) industry.

Selected by a panel of judges chosen from the Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 Technical Program Committee as winner of the Wireless Broadband category, Philips CKC7720N device is a premium cable gateway that is placed in the home of cable network subscribers. The CKC7720N allows cable operators to extend their wireless multimedia service offerings through the use of multiple Set Service Identifiers (SSID) on the device’s integrated WiFi Access point. Each SSID is fully remote managed and allow operators to assign different Quality of Service profiles in line with the services offered on the specific SSID. The stylishly designed Philips CKC7720N Wireless EMTA Cable Gateway is the first integrated product to hold certifications with both Euro DOCSIS2.0, EuroPacketCable 1.5 and WiFi 802.11b/g (with multimedia extensions).

The Philips CKC7720N Wireless EMTA Cable Gateway has been developed with smart technologies that provide consumers with two telephone lines through the Internet, and allows them to access the Internet through wired and/or wireless network in the home. Furthermore the accompanying Philips Easy Installation Wizard, featuring the latest encryption technology, enables consumers to set-up a secured wireless network in just three clicks, while the WiFi Protected Set-up allows for easy and secured registration of additional WiFi devices.

Philips CKC7720N Wireless EMTA Cable Gateway is available through selected cable operators from October.
